Chairman Kim Hak-do: "An Institution Growing Together with the Community Based on ESG"
At the joint scholarship award ceremony held by the Small and Medium Business Corporation and the Ministry of Education last May, Chairman Kim Hak-do is giving a speech.
[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Cheol-hyun] The Small and Medium Business Corporation (Chairman Kim Hak-do, hereinafter referred to as SBC) announced on the 28th that it has been designated as a 'Community Contribution Recognized Institution' for three consecutive years in recognition of its various customized social contribution activities for local communities.
SBC was recognized for operating region-specific social contribution programs such as expanding support for the 'SBC感 Scholarship' for nurturing local specialized talents and promoting the 'Digital Living Lab Frontier,' a citizen-participatory program to solve local issues.
In addition, SBC continues efforts for coexistence with local communities through facility openings and donations of safety supplies to overcome COVID-19, campaigns to revitalize traditional markets, the Local Children’s Book Dream campaign, and green social contributions to improve local green spaces.
SBC plans to create social value by providing benefits such as training fee and training center facility usage fee reductions for small and medium enterprises participating in the Community Contribution Recognition System, and customized linkage consulting support utilizing nationwide field organizations.
The Community Contribution Recognition System is a program that discovers companies and institutions that have consistently carried out social contribution activities and recognizes their contributions to local communities. It is organized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea National Council on Social Welfare, evaluating seven areas including environmental management, social contribution, and ethical management. SBC received the Minister of Health and Welfare Award last year.
Chairman Kim Hak-do said, "This selection as a community contribution recognized company is the result of SBC’s company-wide efforts to strengthen ESG management, including the establishment of a dedicated carbon neutrality team, and to solve local community issues and promote coexistence management." He added, "We will continue to do our best to become an institution that grows together with local communities by promoting systematic and continuous social contribution activities based on ESG strategies."
