[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Jeong-su] Iruda announced on the 26th that it won a patent dispute against another domestic beauty device company, 'V-sa'.
According to Iruda, the Seoul Central District Court and the Supreme Court ruled that the beauty device patents filed by V-sa are 'invalid.' The dispute began in 2016 when V-sa claimed patent infringement on Iruda's main beauty device products, but with this court ruling, all three patents asserted by V-sa were declared invalid.
The product at the center of the dispute is the skin beauty medical device 'Secret RF,' which uses high-frequency microneedles. Iruda introduced this product as a global bestseller with steadily increasing export volumes, along with related consumables, in advanced medical device markets such as the United States and Europe.
This ruling ends the five-year legal battle over patent infringement between Iruda and V-sa that lasted since 2016. Iruda had continued to engage in disputes including injunctions, damages claims, and patent invalidation cases until recently.
An Iruda representative said, "With the end of this exhausting legal battle, we can now focus more on expanding into the global market."
