Launching a New Airport Through the Eyes of Youth... Daegu·Gyeongbuk New Airport Promotion Youth Reporter Group Inauguration Ceremony Daegu·Gyeongbuk New Airport Bird's-eye View.

[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Seryeong] On the 26th, Daegu City held the inauguration ceremony of the ‘1st New Airport Promotion Youth Reporters’ Group,’ gathering young people interested in the construction of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk New Airport.

Hoping for the smooth construction of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk New Airport, the city’s biggest issue, they recruited local youth aged 19 to 32 and launched the reporters’ group.

At the event attended by Mayor Kwon Young-jin, President Lee Jae-yong of Yeungnam College of Science and Technology, and 31 youth reporters, the reporters took an oath, received appointment letters, reporter IDs, and announced their activity plans.

The 1st youth reporters’ group will tour the new airport site throughout next year and attend major events to inform citizens about the new airport construction, the K-2 demolition area development project, and related information.

They will also create content reflecting the youth’s sensibility and perspective about the new airport’s appearance and the future vision that the new airport and K-2 demolition area development will bring to Daegu-Gyeongbuk, and post it on social networks (SNS) such as Facebook and Instagram.

The group plans to encourage interest in the new airport among the 2030 generation and form a consensus that embraces all generations, thereby reflecting citizens’ voices.

To strengthen the reporters’ capabilities, the city will provide preliminary training on article writing and video production techniques and invite experts in various fields for quarterly education sessions.

The city will support the reporters to foster a sense of mission through invitations to major new airport-related events and communication meetings, and encourage their activities by offering benefits such as awards for outstanding reporters, the Mayor’s Award, and commendations from the President of Yeungnam College of Science and Technology.

Hilalakhon, an Uzbek international student majoring in aviation, hotel, and casino at Yeungnam College of Science and Technology, said, “I am really happy to be active in the reporters’ group promoting the new airport, which I have always been interested in,” adding, “I will work hard to ensure the successful construction of the new airport.”

Mayor Kwon Young-jin said, “I support the active activities of the youth reporters’ group,” and added, “I hope the youth reporters will play a significant role in promotion using social networks.”
