[Asia Economy Reporter Jeong Hyunjin] Samsung Electro-Mechanics' Philippine manufacturing subsidiary announced on the 26th that it has received the Environmental Management Excellence Award from the Philippine government. With this award, the company has been selected three times in total for the 'Best Company Award' in the environmental management category and has been inducted into the 'Hall of Fame.'

The Philippine government (PEZA - Philippine Economic Zone Authority) annually selects outstanding companies in four categories: export, labor-management relations, social contribution, and environmental management, and presents awards. Among these, the Environmental Management Excellence Award is given to companies that have contributed to environmental improvement through environmental performance and activities to reduce pollutant emissions.

Samsung Electro-Mechanics' Philippine subsidiary has obtained the ISO 14001 environmental certification from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been highly evaluated for systematically managing the corporate environment, including energy savings, reduction in chemical usage, and compliance with standards to prevent water and air pollution. The company also continues its ongoing CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities such as tree planting and coastal cleanup to create an eco-friendly environment and preserve natural resources.

Hong Jung-oh, Executive Director of Samsung Electro-Mechanics' Philippine manufacturing subsidiary, stated, "We will continuously expand environmental management, lead efforts to coexist with the Philippine local community, and do our best in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management."

Samsung Electro-Mechanics' Philippine manufacturing subsidiary was established in 1997 and has been producing passive components such as multilayer ceramic capacitors (MLCC), inductors, and chip resistors since 2000.
