[Asia Economy Reporter Kwangho Lee] Korea Asset Management Corporation (KAMCO) announced on the 25th that it signed a "Business Agreement to Support the Normalization of Management for Excellent Technology SMEs and Rehabilitation Companies" with the Korea Energy Technology Evaluation Institute at the KAMCO Corporate Structural Innovation Support Center in Gangnam-gu, Seoul.

This business agreement was promoted to timely provide rehabilitation company support financing (DIP) offered by KAMCO to SMEs and rehabilitation companies with high normalization potential by strengthening the appropriateness of technology evaluation through collaboration with the Korea Energy Technology Evaluation Institute.

Since 2019, KAMCO has been collaborating with organizations such as the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology to analyze the technological capabilities of SMEs and rehabilitation companies to provide rehabilitation company support financing. With this agreement, KAMCO expects to strengthen the appropriateness of technology evaluation and support for energy-specialized SMEs and rehabilitation companies.

Through the agreement, the Korea Energy Technology Evaluation Institute will recommend SMEs and rehabilitation companies with excellent technological capabilities among energy-specialized companies to KAMCO, and KAMCO will provide financial support programs for management normalization, including new fund supply.

Furthermore, the two institutions will closely cooperate to enhance corporate competitiveness and support re-leaps by providing investment matching support for companies facing management difficulties and opportunities to participate in energy research and development (R&D).

KAMCO plans to join forces for the normalization of excellent SMEs and rehabilitation companies by promoting the formation of a joint consultative body with technology evaluation institutions such as the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology and the Korea Industrial Technology Promotion Agency, along with the Korea Energy Technology Evaluation Institute, to establish an information-sharing system.

Shin Heung-sik, Acting President of KAMCO, said, "I hope this business agreement will help SMEs and rehabilitation companies that have technological capabilities but are temporarily experiencing difficulties to normalize their management," and added, "Going forward, KAMCO will continue to collaborate closely with related organizations to support competitive SMEs and rehabilitation companies so that they can become a driving force for our economy."
