Shinsegae Property Develops Community-Type Commercial Facility 'Starfield Village'

[Asia Economy Reporter Jo In-kyung] Shinsegae Property, which operates the complex shopping mall 'Starfield,' announced on the 24th that it will start a business to develop and operate community-type commercial facilities under the brand name 'Starfield Village.'

While the existing Starfield is a large-scale space on the outskirts of the city targeting family customers who visit from nearby and distant areas on weekends, Starfield Village will be developed on a scale of about 33,000㎡ (10,000 pyeong) and target nearby customers who visit on foot. Although smaller in scale than Starfield, it will reflect local convenience, customer characteristics, and preferences, and will be designed as a community-based commercial facility focused on local resident interaction by creating spaces and content where local information can be shared.

Under the concept of 'Better Daily Habits,' customers will present their lifestyles while carefully incorporating the needs and conveniences of customers such as 30-40s parenting families. It will consist of specialized grocery stores that can be enjoyed in front of the home, academies and entertainment for the whole family's hobbies, kids' content combining education and play, and essential neighborhood services such as medical, beauty, and healthcare, supporting customers' daily lives within the commercial area as well as providing content that allows consumption of individual tastes.

Shinsegae Property previously opened the urban premium lifestyle center 'The Shops at Centerfield' in the heart of Teheran-ro, Gangnam, Seoul, in June, successfully establishing it as a new landmark in Gangnam. Building on this momentum, it plans to expand the development of urban shopping spaces with the new brand Starfield Village, starting with the commercial facilities (1st to 4th floors) of 'Hillstate The Unjeong' in Paju, Gyeonggi Province in 2025, gradually expanding Starfield Village.

Lim Young-rok, CEO of Shinsegae Property, said, "We plan to leverage the know-how accumulated through the successful development and operation of Starfield to develop and operate various community-type commercial facilities under Starfield Village based on our core retail capabilities," adding, "We will develop compact commercial facilities that reflect the characteristics of local customers and continuously strive to create local commercial districts and improve customers' quality of life."
