[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Juhee] The "Korea-China Celebrity Curling Exchange Match," featuring celebrities from both Korea and China, will be held on the 16th and 17th of next month at the Uijeongbu Curling Stadium. This event was organized to wish for the success of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Korea-China diplomatic relations. The event is hosted by Uijeongbu City, Gyeonggi Province, and the Uijeongbu City Sports Council, and is organized by Hanstar Media and CCTV Seoul Branch.
Four teams from Korea and four teams from China will participate, competing in a tournament over two days. The Korean teams consist of a singer team, a fashion model team, a beauty pageant winners team, and a former national representative athletes team. The singer team includes Insooni, ballad singer Ji Sehee, indie singer and broadcaster Lady Jane, trot singer Woo Hyunjung, singer-songwriter and vocal trainer So Kim, and sports model and broadcaster Kim Junghwa.
The beauty pageant winners team, which won the celebrity curling competition held last June, features five members: Ga Jeongyeon, Kim Rosa, Seo Jinyeong, Lee Jeongyeon, and Moon Suhee. The fashion model team is composed of currently active models in various fields, including Go Ara, Kim Kang-eun, Kim Narim, Kim Dahi, and Kim Yubin.
The former national representative athletes team includes Kim Seongyeon, an active judo national representative who participated in the recent Tokyo Olympics, Taekwondo athlete Kim Dasol, wrestler Shin Jeongkyung, field hockey player Seo Jeongeun, and Jo Eunarae, who works as a wife announcer at Gwangju Broadcasting Corporation (KBC).
In China, four teams were formed with famous influencers active domestically. Wang Il-eun, currently enrolled in the doctoral program at Seoul National University Graduate School of International Studies, served as an interpreter for China Central Television during the 2018 Inter-Korean Summit and as a VIP interpreter at the Alibaba corporate promotion hall during the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. Cheongcheon has worked as a model for Samsung Zipel refrigerators and is active in various fields including the JTBC2 drama "Taming the Tomboy 2."
The eight participating teams received basic curling training over a total of 10 sessions from November 12 to December 14 before competing in the matches.
This tournament will be broadcast live not only on MBC Sports Plus but also across China through CCTV, China News Service, People's Daily Online, Shenzhen TV, and Dongfang TV. Additionally, Xinhua News Agency and the overseas network of People's Daily will also participate in the broadcast.
