According to the county on the 23rd, the Urban Regeneration New Deal Project will be carried out over four years from this year until 2024, and this year, with a project budget of 2.7 billion KRW, the purchase of Building A of Jungang Market and house repair projects will be promoted.

The purchase of Building A of Jungang Market was completed in March, and for the house repair project, 25 sites (21 house repairs and 4 vacant house demolitions) have been selected, with construction starting at the end of November.

In addition, Hangdong-ri in Wando has been selected for the ‘Urban Vulnerable Area Living Condition Renovation Project’ by the National Balanced Development Committee, and with a project budget of 4.3 billion KRW, it is promoting the expansion of living infrastructure, housing environment improvement projects, and resident capacity-building projects.

For the house repair project, 58 sites (57 house repairs and 1 vacant house demolition) were selected through a public contest, and construction will begin in April next year.

In Hangdong-ri, 22 sites of basic livelihood security recipients and lower-income households were selected, so residents will bear no self-payment, reducing their economic burden, and LPG piping networks, water supply and sewage systems will also be improved, greatly enhancing the housing environment.

Resident Choi from Hangdong-ri said, “Because there was no road, cars couldn’t enter, so house repairs were impossible, but with the opening of the village road, we can repair houses, so I expect the living environment to improve and the neighborhood’s appearance to get better.”

A county official stated, “We will do our best to carry out the Urban Regeneration New Deal Project and the Vulnerable Area Living Condition Renovation Project to resolve residents’ inconveniences and contribute to improving their quality of life.”
