Former Minister Cho posted on his Facebook immediately after the news of Jeon’s death was announced on the morning of the 23rd, expressing these sentiments.

He also added, "I pray for the souls of the soldiers who died resisting the December 12 coup in 1979 and the citizens who died resisting the May 17 coup in 1980."

Supporters who saw former Minister Cho’s post responded with comments such as, "I also pray for their souls," "It makes me furious that he passed away so comfortably compared to their tragic deaths. If there is talk of a state funeral this time, I will not forgive those people," and "I pray for the souls of those who were victims of Jeon Du-hwan’s guns and swords."

Meanwhile, Jeon passed away at his home in Yeonhui-dong, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the same day due to an illness. He was 90 years old. According to political and medical circles, Jeon’s health had recently deteriorated, and he had been receiving outpatient treatment at a hospital in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul.

Jeon was found collapsed in the bathroom of his home. Medical personnel visited his residence and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation, but he was already deceased. The medical team urgently transported Jeon to the emergency room and pronounced him dead.
