Krafton Announces Results of 'PGC 2021' Ranking Matches

[Asia Economy Reporter Kang Nahum] Krafton has released the results of the ranking matches for the global PUBG esports tournament, the ‘PUBG Global Championship (PGC) 2021’.

According to Krafton on the 23rd, the PGC 2021 ranking matches held from the 19th to the 21st were conducted using the SUPER (Standard and Universal PUBG Esports Ruleset) point system, which applies both ranking points and kill points.

The first-place team was ENCE from the Europe region with a total of 182 points, followed by Korea’s Gen.G with 165 points in second place, and China’s NewHappy with 164 points in third place.

Among Korean teams, Ghibli Esports ranked 8th, Danawa e-sports ranked 12th, and MaD Clan ranked 16th. Along with Gen.G, these four teams advanced directly to the Week 1 Weekly Survival.

The teams ranked 1st to 16th in this ranking match will participate in the Week 1 Weekly Survival starting today. The Weekly Survival takes place every Tuesday through Thursday, and the Weekly Final is held every Saturday and Sunday.

From the Weekly Survival, where the ‘Winner Winner Chicken Dinner (WWCD) rule’ is applied, teams that secure a chicken dinner in each match advance directly to that week’s Weekly Final. Subsequently, teams ranked 17th to 31st are sequentially introduced into the remaining Weekly Survival matches.

The final 16 teams that fail to secure a chicken dinner in the Weekly Survival and do not advance to the Weekly Final will compete in a ranking match called the ‘Bottom Sixteen’ the following Monday to re-determine the rankings from 17th to 32nd place.

The Weekly Series and Bottom Sixteen matches can be watched from 7 PM today on official channels on YouTube, Twitch, AfreecaTV, Naver TV, and TikTok. Viewers can obtain voting rights for the winner prediction event ‘Pick’em Challenge’ through codes revealed during the broadcast, and can earn free esports points (EP) via Twitch Drops on the Twitch broadcast channel and the Pick&Go event.

Winner prediction voting and special in-game item purchases are available until 6 PM on the 18th of next month, before the final match of PGC 2021 begins. Thirty percent of the revenue from PGC 2021 item sales will be added to the total prize pool.

Information related to PGC 2021 and PUBG esports can be found on the official website.
