[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] Hyundai Motor Company announced on the 23rd that the Ioniq 5 and Tucson will appear in key scenes of Sony Pictures Entertainment's movie "Spider-Man: No Way Home," set to be released worldwide next month.
Since signing a strategic partnership with Sony Pictures in May last year, Hyundai has been collaborating in various fields. This movie, the first project of the partnership between the two companies, is the third installment in the globally popular 'Spider-Man' series, a Marvel action blockbuster starring Tom Holland. The first trailer, released in August, surpassed 355.5 million views within a day, setting a record for the highest number of views for a movie trailer ever.
The film features Hyundai's Ioniq 5 and Tucson in major scenes, showcasing various vehicle action sequences. Additionally, Hyundai collaborated with the film's director Jon Watts and lead actor Tom Holland to produce an Ioniq 5 commercial that feels like revealing a hidden story of the movie, and plans to promote diverse movie marketing utilizing intellectual property (IP) related to the 'Spider-Man' film.
Moreover, Hyundai is conducting a Spider-Man virtual campaign on the recently launched metaverse platform Roblox within the 'Hyundai Mobility Adventure,' providing a unique customer experience, while also planning special events at Hyundai Motorstudio Seoul and Goyang.
Thomas Schemera, Vice President and Head of Customer Experience Division at Hyundai Motor Company, stated, "As the first project opening the door to the strategic partnership between the two companies, we expect the movie's successful box office performance and the resulting high marketing effect," adding, "We will make every effort to create entertainment collaboration content that delivers joyful moments to people around the world weary from COVID-19."
