[Asia Economy Online Issue Team] The cooking variety show 'War of Knives' features 'sudak-ui gohwan' (rooster testicles) as an ingredient, drawing attention to what kind of dish it will be reborn as.
The tvN STORY-LG HelloVision variety show 'War of Knives' (directed by Hyun Don/LG HelloVision) is a program where master chefs representing all regions of Korea compete with their local pride by introducing regional dishes and ingredients. In the third episode airing on the 22nd (Monday), a cooking battle among masters from all over Korea will take place under the theme of '100-year-old food,' with actress Go Eun-ah appearing as a special MC.
From the very first battle of the recording, the surprising ingredient 'sudak-ui gohwan' appeared, turning the scene upside down. Among the released stills, Lee Chan-won is seen with a dazed expression as if his soul has left after smelling the rooster testicles, while Go Eun-ah looks shocked with her pupils and mouth wide open.
Go Eun-ah said, "It's my first time seeing this in real life," unable to take her eyes off it, and Do Kyung-wan exclaimed, "You actually eat that?" in disbelief. Lee Chan-won boldly stepped forward saying, "I'll smell it myself. If it's well managed, it could be fragrant," but as soon as he received the plate, he was taken aback, saying, "It smells strong even here," causing laughter.
Meanwhile, rooster testicles were the secret ingredient chosen by master Im Seong-geun, representing Seoul. Previously, in the final of the show 'Hansik Daecheop 3,' Seoul and Jeolla Province faced off, with Seoul ultimately winning. In this context, the 'War of Knives' can be seen as a revenge match between Seoul and Jeolla Province.
Master Im Seong-geun brought out 'sudak-ui gohwan' as a secret weapon to maintain his winning streak, and in response, Jeolla Province's representative master Kim Hye-sook also prepared a special ingredient, leading to an intense cooking battle that is said to be unforgettable.
Whether Jeolla Province succeeded in avenging against Seoul and what kind of dish was created from the rooster testicles raises curiosity.
