[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] LG Display announced on the 22nd that Yu Jang-jin, a research fellow in the Image Quality Development Office, received the 'Prime Minister's Commendation' in recognition of his contribution to the development of Korean display technology on the occasion of World Standards Day 2021.
World Standards Day is designated by the three major international standardization organizations (ISO, IEC, ITU) to raise awareness of the importance of standards. Since 2000, Korea has awarded government honors annually to those who have contributed to strengthening national competitiveness through standardization.
Research Fellow Yu was recognized for his achievements in leading global standardization to ensure that Korean display technologies such as Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED), and Micro Light Emitting Diode (LED) are objectively acknowledged worldwide.
He has been active for over 10 years in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC), the most authoritative global standardization organization in the electrical and electronics fields, standardizing display image quality evaluation methods from the existing LCD-focused approach to an OLED-centered one. Through this, LG Display's OLED TV panels have been established as a global standard, laying the foundation for leading the premium TV market, the company evaluated.
Research Fellow Yu said, "It is an honor to contribute to the development of the Korean display industry as a member of LG Display," adding, "I will strive to ensure that Korea's display technology leads the global market as a worldwide standard."
