Award Ceremony and Discussion on Outstanding Cases under the Theme of 'Social Welfare Resource Linkage and ESG'
[Asia Economy Reporter Lim Cheol-young] The Seoul Welfare Foundation announced on the 22nd that, together with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, it will hold the ‘2021 Seoul Social Contribution Awards Ceremony and Forum’ on the 26th at the SETEC Convention Hall on Nambusunhwan-ro, Gangnam-gu, Seoul.
The ‘2021 Seoul Social Contribution Awards’ selected 10 programs including △KCC Firefly House: Housing Vulnerable Group Space Improvement Support Project, △FORENA Library Support Project, △Housing First Homeless Support Housing Support Project, △Make Dream With 6, △Dobong-gu Suicide Risk Group Regional Cooperation Network Project, △Yeong(Long Life) Project, an integrated care system construction project in Yeongdeungpo with public-private-social economy and residents, △Youth Economic Classroom, △Children’s Hospital Healing Play, △Specialized High School Students ‘IT Dream Tree Growth (White Hacker Training Project) Support Project’, and △Creating a Flat World.
At the awards ceremony, 10 companies and corporate foundations participating in the projects, including KCC, Hanwha Construction, E-Land Welfare Foundation, Korea Center, Kosen Mobility, Byucksan Engineering Co., Ltd., Four Seasons Publishing, Hyundai AutoEver, Dong-A ST, and ST Tech, will receive the Seoul Mayor’s Award.
Additionally, 35 nonprofit/public institutions such as Seocho-gu Hanwoori Information and Culture Center, Seoul Association of Welfare Facilities for the Disabled, Seoul Metropolitan Disabled Products Sales Facility, Changdong Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, Seoul Metropolitan Yeongdeungpo Disabled Welfare Center, Children and Future Foundation, Jongno Cultural Foundation, Together Working Foundation, and Dongdaemun-gu Disabled Comprehensive Welfare Center will receive the Seoul Welfare Foundation CEO Award.
The second part of the event, held immediately after the awards ceremony, will feature a forum titled ‘Adding ESG to Social Welfare Resource Linkage.’ Following a keynote speech by Professor Cho Sang-mi of Ewha Womans University’s Department of Social Welfare, Director Kim Min-seok of the Sustainability Research Institute and Team Leader Park Mi-hee of the Community Chest of Korea’s Sharing Culture Research Institute will discuss the relationship between ESG and social welfare resource linkage.
Jung Soo-yong, Director of Welfare Policy at Seoul Metropolitan Government, said, “As we respond swiftly to changes in the era caused by the prolonged COVID-19 pandemic and build a sustainable social safety net, the importance of linking social welfare resources and corporate social contribution is becoming more prominent. Seoul will cooperate in building community infrastructure to ensure smooth corporate social contribution activities.”
Kim Sang-chul, CEO of the Seoul Welfare Foundation, said, “We hope that this awards ceremony and forum will serve as an opportunity for companies and nonprofit/public institutions to connect and collaborate their expertise and resources to lead changes in local communities. The Seoul Welfare Foundation will strive to be a stepping stone for change.”
