"Apartment Manager Father Suddenly Passed Away After AZ Vaccination" Cheong Petition

[Asia Economy Reporter Seoyoung Kwon] A national petition has been posted claiming that a father, who worked as an apartment manager, died after receiving the AstraZeneca (AZ) COVID-19 vaccine.

On the 19th, a petition titled "My father passed away after receiving the vaccine" was posted on the Blue House national petition board. As of 11 a.m. on the 21st, over 1,200 people had agreed to the petition.

The petitioner stated, "Both my grandfather and father passed away after receiving the vaccine," adding, "Both experienced the same early symptom of swollen ankles." He explained, "On September 9th, my father suddenly died of cardiac arrest while at work," and "It was just a few days after completing the second dose of the (COVID-19) vaccine."

The petitioner further explained, "My father received the AZ vaccine for both the first and second doses," and "He had never suffered from any heart disease in the past." He added, "Shortly before he passed away, my father complained of chest pain and tightness, and he died in the ambulance before arriving at the hospital," and "Due to COVID-19, some emergency rooms in several hospitals were closed, so he could not be taken to the nearest emergency room."

Additionally, the petitioner said, "Although I had made a reservation to get vaccinated for the sake of neighbors and family, I canceled my vaccine appointment after my father passed away," and questioned, "If my sister and I, who inherited the genes of my grandfather and father, suffer serious vaccine side effects, who will compensate us?" He appealed, "Please resolve the injustice of my father, who ended his life in vain because of the vaccine he trusted and received from the country."
