The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency's Central Disease Control Headquarters announced that as of midnight on the 21st, 3,120 new cases were reported in one day.
The number of critically ill patients receiving isolated treatment with ventilators and other equipment is 517, an increase of 9 from the previous day (508). The death toll rose by 30, bringing the total to 3,274.
Among the newly confirmed domestic cases, 3,098 were reported, with 1,315 in Seoul, 988 in Gyeonggi, and 203 in Incheon, totaling 2,506 cases in the metropolitan area alone.
Cases were also reported nationwide: 86 in Busan, 42 in Daegu, 70 in Gwangju, 43 in Daejeon, 9 in Ulsan, 7 in Sejong, 75 in Gangwon, 20 in Chungbuk, 47 in Chungnam, 40 in Jeonbuk, 37 in Jeonnam, 25 in Gyeongbuk, 76 in Gyeongnam, and 15 in Jeju.
There were 22 imported cases reported.
Meanwhile, since February, a total of 42,237,120 people have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. The first-dose vaccination rate is 82.3% of the total population. A total of 40,493,353 people have completed the second dose, accounting for 78.9% of the population.
