Launch of Gyeonggi-do Sports Innovation Advisory Group... First Meeting on the 19th

[Asia Economy (Suwon) = Reporter Lee Young-gyu] Gyeonggi Province officially launched the 'Gyeonggi-do Sports Innovation Advisory Group' composed of public and private experts on the 19th to guarantee and promote human rights in the sports sector.

On the same day, Gyeonggi Province held the first meeting of the Sports Innovation Advisory Group at the Gyeonggi-do Sports Council Hall's medium conference room and appointed 10 committee members.

The advisory group was established under the 'Gyeonggi-do Athlete and Sports Personnel Sports Human Rights Ordinance' and is responsible for policy consultation and advice to promote the human rights of athletes and sports personnel within the province.

At the first meeting, the committee members shared and provided related advice on the human rights promotion projects in the sports sector that Gyeonggi Province has implemented so far, including ▲the announcement of the first-ever sexual violence eradication and prevention measures by a metropolitan local government sports organization nationwide (January 2019) ▲the enactment and enforcement of the Gyeonggi-do Athlete and Sports Personnel Sports Human Rights Ordinance (October 2020) ▲and the sports human rights surveys conducted on athletes in the province (2019 and 2020).

Next, they received a business plan report from Easywon Co., Ltd., which was selected as the entrusted institution for the 'Sports Human Rights Education and Promotion Project' through a public contest last October.

Easywon will conduct sports human rights education for about 3,000 registered coaches and adult athletes in the province through both face-to-face and non-face-to-face methods until the end of the year.

The province plans to select the entrusted institution again through a public contest in January next year and expand the sports human rights education and promotion project for one year.

Additionally, by adding the task of 'Operation of Reporting and Counseling Center,' various projects such as surveys, victim relief, and countermeasure development will be promoted.

Kim Jin-gi, Director of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of Gyeonggi Province and head of the Innovation Advisory Group, emphasized, "The launch of the Sports Innovation Advisory Group is the starting point for promoting sports human rights in Gyeonggi Province," and added, "We will gather diverse and valuable opinions from advisory committee members to create more advanced policies."
