[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Jong-hwa] The 'ESG Mobility Consortium,' composed of smart mobility specialized companies, and Gyeonggi-do Corporation, the operator of the 'Baedal Teukgeup' service, have joined forces to expand the 'eco-friendly delivery' service business.

On the 17th, the ESG Mobility Consortium announced that it signed a 'business agreement to expand eco-friendly mobility delivery services' with Gyeonggi-do Corporation. The ESG Consortium is a purely private alliance of small and medium-sized enterprises centered on platform companies, e-mobility manufacturers, and regional hub operators to realize the spread of e-mobility. Members include Mesh Korea, Barogo, Moving, and CastPro.

'Baedal Teukgeup' started with the purpose of helping small business owners burdened by high intermediary fees from existing operators such as Baemin (Baedal Minjok), Coupang Eats, and Yogiyo. It is establishing itself as a successful public service model that eliminates monopolies in the delivery app market and promotes fair competition. So far, the cumulative transaction amount in Baedal Teukgeup service areas has exceeded 70 billion KRW, showing results beyond expectations.

According to the agreement, both organizations will share their respective resources to promote and activate eco-friendly mobility delivery services and Baedal Teukgeup. They will also cooperate to introduce electric two-wheelers, ultra-small electric vehicles, electric bicycles, and develop various solutions and models necessary for minimizing environmental pollution and eco-friendly delivery, as well as operate smart mobility pilot zones.

Lee Seok-hoon, CEO of Gyeonggi-do Corporation, said, "Baedal Teukgeup of Gyeonggi-do Corporation is participating in the process of developing and demonstrating various solutions and service models necessary for eco-friendly delivery, leading the carbon-neutral era." He added, "We will find concrete measures such as introducing electric two-wheelers and selecting pilot areas based on this agreement."

Kim Jong-bae, CEO of the ESG Consortium, said, "Through the partnership with Baedal Teukgeup, we hope the introduction of eco-friendly transportation means will expand, benefiting the environment and contributing to regional economic development." He also forecasted, "The operation of ultra-small electric vehicles is expected to reduce carbon emissions and fuel costs, and job creation effects through managing electric charging stations will also be significant."

The ESG Consortium and Gyeonggi-do Corporation plan to establish a close cooperation system with local governments, select two pilot areas within this year, and start the project early next year.
