Polaris Office Teams Up with Naver for First Success... Supplies 'Web Office' to Gyeongnam Office of Education

[Asia Economy Reporter Jang Hyowon] Polaris Office, a company specializing in office software, announced on the 17th that it will begin supplying its product ‘Polaris Office Edu’ to the Gyeongsangnam-do Office of Education’s remote learning support platform ‘iTalkTalk.’ This achievement came just one month after forming a web office business partnership with Naver.

‘iTalkTalk’ is a future education remote learning support platform established by the Gyeongnam Office of Education based on Naver’s educational platform Whalespace. It has been supported since March of this year in elementary, middle, and high schools located in Gyeongnam, enhancing usability not only for non-face-to-face classes but also for face-to-face classes. It provides various educational services such as programs for remote classes and device support systems.

‘Polaris Office Edu’ is an educational version of ‘Polaris Office Web,’ a web office product that supports communication and online education between teachers and students through login integration with the Naver Whale browser and Whalespace. It offers document editing, customized learning support to bridge learning gaps, and a blended learning environment (a mix of online and offline learning).

A Polaris Office representative said, “This project is the first commercialization case since starting web office business collaboration with Naver,” adding, “‘Polaris Office Edu’ is not only used in schools but also freely accessible to students at home, providing learning opportunities to all students without the financial burden of purchasing separate software, thus establishing itself as a key feature within ‘iTalkTalk.’”

They continued, “Starting with this collaboration with Naver, we expect web office business achievements in various fields.”

Last October, Polaris Office signed a business agreement with Naver to provide the ‘Polaris Office Web’ service. They agreed to start providing the ‘Polaris Office Web’ service on Naver Whale’s educational platform, develop joint marketing and business models utilizing Whale, and derive collaboration and related business models in the education market.

Polaris Office has pre-installed the ‘Polaris Office Web’ service on Whalebook and WhaleOS, educational devices recently launched by Naver, enabling immediate viewing of documents in various formats such as Hangul HWP and MS Office. Additionally, through login with Naver’s educational platform Whalespace account, users can access an ad-free version of Polaris Edu Web Office.
