The 1st Forest Technicians' Day Commemoration Event Held

The special corporation Korea Forestry Technicians Association (President Jeong Gyuwon) announced on the 16th that it will hold the ‘2021 1st Forestry Technicians Day’ commemorative event from the 28th to the 29th at Unjusan Natural Recreation Forest in Imgo-myeon, Yeongcheon-si, Gyeongbuk.

This commemorative event for Forestry Technicians Day, held for the first time this year, is hosted by the Korea Forestry Technicians Association and organized by the Daegu·Gyeongbuk branch of the Korea Forestry Technicians Association.

It was promoted to enable the Forestry Technicians Association to play a leading role in the industrialization of forestry.

With the slogan “Imagine in the forest, realize in the forest,” November 29th will be declared as ‘Forestry Technicians Day,’ and through the vision proclamation, it will be an occasion to declare the future direction of the Korea Forestry Technicians Association.

The event is sponsored by the Korea Forest Service, Gyeongsangbuk-do, Yeongcheon City, the Korea Forestry Corporation Association, the Korea Forestry Craftsmen Association, the Korea Forestry Engineers Association, the Korea Landscape Architecture Association, the Korea Forestry Engineering Association, the Korea Log Production Association, and nine city and provincial branches of the Korea Forestry Technicians Association.

To prevent the spread of COVID-19, attendees will practice social distancing and wear masks provided by the Korea Forestry Technicians Association.

The event program includes ▲ Forestry Technicians Day and vision proclamation ▲ awards for outstanding forestry technicians ▲ awarding the grand prize for the Forestry Technicians Day slogan contest ▲ forestry technology demonstrations ▲ forest management using a multi-product collector by the Gangwon branch of the National Forestry Technicians Association ▲ forest management using a smart product collector by Korea Forest Science High School ▲ wood chip production using a wood crusher by Yurim Machinery Co., Ltd. ▲ a special lecture on ‘The Role of Forestry Technicians in Increasing Forest Carbon Sinks’ by former professor Jo Yonggi of the Forestry Technology Education Center ▲ a special lecture on expanding the forestry technology market through forest biomass collection by Shin Dusik, chairman of the Biomass Cooperative ▲ exhibition of excellent forestry machinery and equipment ▲ performances of Yeongcheon Arirang by the Yeongcheon Arirang Preservation Society and traditional percussion by the Southern Pungmul Group.

Jeong Gyuwon, president of the Korea Forestry Technicians Association, said, “Through this event, forestry technicians will unite and raise one voice, and forestry technology is expected to become the foundation of forest management in the new era,” adding, “It will be an opportunity to become a second forestry powerhouse through related projects and cooperation by industrializing forestry technology.”

Meanwhile, the Korea Forestry Technicians Association, established on January 10, 2019, following the enactment and promulgation of the Act on the Promotion and Management of Forestry Technology in 2017, is actively working to promote forestry technology by ▲ improving the welfare of forestry technicians ▲ enhancing their qualifications ▲ protecting technicians’ rights ▲ managing the quality of forestry projects ▲ conducting safety management and safety education for forestry projects.

It manages the careers of over 30,000 forestry technicians in the fields of forest management, forest engineering, and green landscaping, and also provides regular and specialized education.
