FA-50, Surion, and LAH Unveiled
[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) announced on the 15th that it will participate in the Dubai Airshow 2021, held in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) until the 18th, and will intensify export marketing targeting the Middle East, Africa, and European markets.
The Dubai Airshow is the largest aerospace industry exhibition in the Middle East held biennially. At this exhibition, KAI showcased the FA-50 light attack aircraft, Surion utility helicopter, and LAH light armed helicopter.
KAI plans to propose the UAE advanced trainer aircraft project to enable training for 5th generation fighter pilots and light attack missions. To this end, KAI discussed business cooperation plans with senior UAE government officials and air force leadership, introducing the excellent performance and outstanding training effectiveness of the FA-50, proven through operation by the Republic of Korea Air Force.
Additionally, KAI is conducting joint marketing with Lockheed Martin, which participated in the development of the T-50, to expand exports of affiliated aircraft. Furthermore, KAI plans to expand joint marketing efforts to pioneer new markets in advanced countries recently showing interest in the FA-50, such as North America and Oceania.
The Korean government also supported the export of domestically produced aircraft such as the FA-50, Surion, and LAH at this airshow. Defense Acquisition Program Administration Chief Kang Eun-ho and other military officials met with UAE military personnel to discuss defense industry cooperation between the two countries. Meanwhile, the government and KAI held the 'Team Korea for Domestic Aircraft Export' event, reaffirming their commitment to achieving exports of 1,000 units.
KAI President Ahn Hyun-ho stated, "Due to the excellent performance and high satisfaction with after-sales support of domestic aircraft, repeat purchases from existing export countries continue, and interest from neighboring countries is increasing." He added, "We will strengthen marketing efforts in cooperation with the government to pioneer markets not only in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, South America, and Africa but also in advanced countries."
