[Asia Economy Reporter Oh Hyung-gil] Naver (NAVER) is reportedly set to hold a board meeting next week to discuss the replacement of CEO Han Seong-suk.
According to IT industry insiders on the 11th, Naver plans to discuss the appointment of a new CEO to succeed Han at the board meeting on the 17th.
The board's Personnel Recommendation Committee has been conducting extensive and thorough reviews of potential CEO candidates following Han's recent resignation announcement.
Typically, Naver resolves the nomination and confirmation of CEO candidates at the board meeting five months prior to the regular shareholders' meeting in March, where the CEO appointment is formally approved.
When Han appeared as a witness at the National Assembly's audit last month and was criticized over workplace power abuse issues, she expressed her intention to change Naver's structure and leadership by the end of the year. Han was appointed as Naver's CEO in March 2017, becoming the company's first female CEO, and successfully renewed her term last March in recognition of her management performance.
