[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Park Jin-hyung] A current pharmacist in his 30s, who threatened his girlfriend by saying he would upload a sex video on his workplace website and committed special assault, showed tears and apologized during his first trial.
The Gwangju District Court's 12th Criminal Division (Presiding Judge No Jae-ho) held the first hearing on the morning of the 10th for pharmacist Kim Mo (37), who is charged with special assault, special injury, and prostitution.
Kim is accused of ordering his girlfriend to buy a hot dog at his pharmacy on September 13, and when she did not return immediately, verbally abusing her with phrases like "You will get beaten to death," pouring coffee on her head, hitting her head with a dustpan, and threatening her with a kitchen knife.
Kim told his cohabiting girlfriend to come back home and assaulted her again.
He struck his frightened girlfriend, who was hiding in the closet, dozens of times with a metal pipe and a metal phone holder, causing injuries requiring six weeks of treatment.
At around 10:30 p.m. that same night, he sent messages via cellphone such as "Do you think I can't stab you?" along with photos of him holding a kitchen knife.
Kim also threatened by posting on the workplace website under the title "A person who should not be at the hospital," stating that he would release videos containing sexual scenes.
In fact, he sent videos showing the girlfriend’s face to her coworkers through Instagram.
Additionally, between April and June, he is accused of paying cash for prostitution three times with women he met through a chat application, and since August, he has been charged with repeatedly violating work-related purposes by smoking psychotropic drugs and marijuana.
Kim stated, "I admit all charges and am reflecting on my actions. I am prepared to accept any punishment, but if leniency is granted, I will not forget the severity of the law and will live strictly within its boundaries."
He added, "Lastly, I sincerely apologize once again for the pain I caused the victim."
