KAMA Signs Business Agreement with Kakao Commerce to Promote Future Mobility Industry

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki-min Lee] The Korea Automobile Manufacturers Association (KAMA) announced on the morning of the 9th that it signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kakao Commerce at the Automobile Hall in Seocho-gu, Seoul to promote the future mobility industry.

This MOU was pursued with the purpose of promoting the future mobility industry through mutual support and cooperation between KAMA and Kakao Commerce, considering the expansion and growth trends of the mobility industry such as electrification of transportation for carbon neutrality, autonomous driving, robotics, and integrated mobility services (MaaS).

First, the two organizations will begin implementing the MOU starting from the '2021 Seoul Mobility Show,' which opens on the 26th at KINTEX in Goyang-si, Gyeonggi-do.

The content of the Seoul Mobility Show, the largest comprehensive industrial exhibition in Korea, will be accessible through the Kakao platform centered on KakaoTalk, the messenger with the largest domestic market share, including KakaoTalk Shopping, Talk Store, Kakao Pay, and KakaoTalk Channel.

In particular, through cooperation with Kakao at this exhibition, limited edition digital tickets featuring the signature designs of completed car brands will be introduced for the first time, and participating companies in the Seoul Mobility Show will be provided with channels to sell their products through Kakao Shopping.

Thereafter, plans include jointly promoting ▲discovery and promotion of technologies and products related to the future mobility industry ▲development of sales channels for products and services of domestic mobility companies.

A KAMA official stated, "The meeting of the Seoul Mobility Show, the largest industrial exhibition in Korea, and Kakao, the country's top platform company, will be a great opportunity to show participants and visitors the present and future of the evolving mobility industry," adding, "We will continue efforts to ensure that this agreement between the two organizations contributes to the domestic future mobility industry."
