SK Rent-a-Car Launches Long-term Rental 'Extended Warranty Service' Up to 12 Months

[Asia Economy Reporter Changhwan Lee] SK Rent-a-Car announced on the 8th that it will offer partnership services to customers who purchase long-term rental vehicles.

SK Rent-a-Car, in collaboration with the Korea Automobile Diagnosis and Warranty Association, a nationally certified organization, is introducing the industry's first service that extends the warranty repair period for customers after acquiring long-term rental vehicles.

The extended warranty service allows customers who purchase long-term rental vehicles to choose a period of 6 months (10,000 km) or 12 months (20,000 km), during which over 110 major parts including the engine, transmission, gearbox, and steering are covered. Customers who subscribe to the service can use more than 250 repair shops nationwide affiliated with the association.

Among SK Rent-a-Car’s long-term rental customers, vehicles with a contract period of 5 years and a cumulative mileage under 100,000 km without accidents are eligible for the extended warranty service. Accident-free status is confirmed through on-site inspections conducted by nationally certified automobile diagnosis evaluators affiliated with the Korea Automobile Diagnosis and Warranty Association.

The subscription fee for domestic cars is 180,000 KRW for a 6-month warranty and 290,000 KRW for 12 months, while imported cars are 600,000 KRW for 6 months and 1,000,000 KRW for 12 months.

Additionally, SK Rent-a-Car is running a promotional benefit for customers acquiring long-term rental vehicles through a partnership with Carrot General Insurance, Korea’s first digital non-life insurance company, offering a new concept service called ‘Pay-Per-Mile Auto Insurance,’ where customers pay insurance premiums postpaid based on their monthly mileage.

Customers who subscribe will receive a 30,000 KRW multi-use gift certificate valid at SK gas stations, E-Mart, and other large marts.
