[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Heung-soon] Samsung will conduct the GSAT (Job Suitability Test), the written exam for the second half of this year's new college graduate recruitment, online on the 6th and 7th.
Applicants for the level 3 (college graduate) recruitment in the second half of the year from 20 major Samsung affiliates, including Samsung Electronics, Samsung Display, Samsung SDI, Samsung Electro-Mechanics, Samsung SDS, Samsung C&T, Samsung Life Insurance, and Cheil Worldwide, will take the GSAT over two days. The exam will be held in four sessions?morning and afternoon each day. The subjects are Mathematics (20 questions) and Reasoning (30 questions), and the exam duration is about two hours, including 60 minutes for pre-check and 60 minutes for the test.
Samsung has been conducting the GSAT online since the first half of last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This will be the fourth online exam. Test takers will take the exam at home using their personal computers, and supervisors will monitor the exam remotely through a monitoring system. To prevent cheating, test takers must record themselves taking the exam using their smartphones.
Earlier, Samsung provided an 'Applicant Kit' containing instructions and necessary tools for the recent online GSAT exam to candidates who passed the first round of the job suitability evaluation for the second half recruitment.
Samsung plans to select the final successful candidates through interviews scheduled for November to December among those who pass the GSAT. Currently, Samsung is the only one among the top five conglomerates to maintain the open recruitment system. In August, shortly after Vice Chairman Lee Jae-yong of Samsung Electronics was released on parole, Samsung announced a massive investment plan worth 240 trillion won, pledging to directly hire 40,000 people over the next three years to expand youth employment and stabilize the job market.
