[Asia Economy Reporter Park Hyun-joo] Heo Kyung-young, Honorary Representative of the National Revolutionary Party and a candidate in the 20th presidential election, claimed that Lee Jae-myung, the Democratic Party of Korea's presidential candidate, has policies similar to his own.
In this regard, Honorary Representative Heo introduced an article on his Facebook on the 4th that contained content emphasizing Lee's proposal for nationwide disaster relief payments.
He said, "Candidate Lee Jae-myung, the statement you made yesterday that national debt is low while household debt is high is something I have long advocated. I am grateful that you somehow knew this and sympathized with my claim," adding, "It seems you quoted it almost identically; perhaps you watched the 'Heo Kyung-young lecture' or participated in the 'Heo Kyung-young game.'"
He continued, "Candidate Lee Jae-myung and I seem to share similar policy directions and a great concern for the people. In that sense, I propose a national policy debate to Candidate Lee Jae-myung."
He also emphasized, "The policy debate proposed by Heo Kyung-young will not be a place for mutual slander and criticism but a place to have an in-depth discussion about the future direction of the country," and added, "Heo Kyung-young's debate venue is always open, so I will wait for you to express your willingness to participate."

Earlier, Lee stated at the first Central Election Committee meeting of the Democratic Party held at the National Assembly the previous day, "Although the household debt ratio has increased, the national debt ratio is abnormally the lowest in the world," and added, "It is necessary to recognize that the national debt ratio is not a major obstacle."
Meanwhile, Honorary Representative Heo completed his preliminary presidential candidate registration with the National Election Commission on the 18th of last month and stated, "Next year's presidential election is the day to end old-fashioned politics and choose whether to receive the 'Heo Kyung-young COVID-19 Emergency Livelihood Support Fund,'" promising to pay 100 million won to all citizens aged 18 and over within two months of taking office.
