"Stomach Full of Fatigue, Vomiting Green Liquid Even After Drinking Water" Moderna Vaccinee's Wife's Plea

"Husband lost over 10kg... Worries and fears about whether he can drink water again and return to work"

[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Soyoung] A petition has been posted describing how a woman's husband experienced abdominal pain after receiving his second dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine, underwent emergency surgery, and continues to suffer from side effects.

On the 27th of last month, a petition titled "Please help my husband who underwent emergency surgery due to abdominal bleeding after Moderna vaccination and has been hospitalized for a month without being able to drink even a sip of water" was posted on the Blue House National Petition website.

The petitioner, who identified herself as the wife of a self-employed man in his 50s living in Ulsan, said, "My husband has been playing badminton daily and training consistently for over 20 years. He is a non-smoker and does not drink alcohol; he was a healthy person," adding, "But after the second dose of the Moderna vaccine, he came dangerously close to death in an instant."

She explained, "(My husband) only had a slight fever after the second Moderna dose on September 28th and was fine. However, around 3 p.m. on October 2nd, he experienced severe abdominal pain, rolled around the living room, and due to continuous vomiting, we went to the emergency room of a general hospital in Ulsan."

She continued, "Upon arrival, he underwent a computed tomography (CT) scan and was given narcotic painkillers twice, but my husband was crying out to be saved," adding, "It was the first time I saw him like that, and I couldn't handle it."

She then recounted, "The CT results showed his abdomen was filled with blood clots, and he needed immediate surgery. The surgeon said it was so full of blood that it was difficult to distinguish the organs," describing the situation at the time.

The petitioner said, "Blood was gushing from two blood vessels, an artery and a vein, passing behind the pancreas," adding, "These vessels are located near the back and usually rupture due to severe trauma such as a serious traffic accident, so the surgeon was puzzled and even flipped my husband during surgery to check for any back injuries."

Afterward, her husband began vomiting 1.5 liters of green fluid even when drinking water. The petitioner said, "After various tests, it was found that the duodenum was blocked due to swelling, preventing anything from passing through," adding, "My husband has lost over 10 kg in weight and spends each day in worry and fear, wondering if he will ever be able to drink even a sip of water again or return to work as the head of the household."

She added, "I understand that in Pohang, a 43-year-old woman also filed a petition stating that she could not stop bleeding from her abdomen after the second Moderna vaccine dose," and pleaded, "'If only he hadn't been vaccinated' is a phrase I repeat hundreds or thousands of times a day. Please, help my husband be able to drink even a sip of water and help my family return to our previous life."
