The Yeomri Comprehensive Social Welfare Center was built with a budget of 22.3 billion KRW, covering a total area of 8,047㎡, with a scale of 2 basement floors to 4 above-ground floors. It is the largest comprehensive social welfare center in Mapo-gu. Construction began in December 2019, was completed in August this year, and related facility move-in was completed last month.
In March, through a public recruitment for the entrusted operation of the Yeomri Comprehensive Social Welfare Center, the Korea Social Welfare Association (CEO Yoon Gi-won) was selected as the operating entity.
The selected corporation will integrate the operation of four facilities: the comprehensive social welfare center, daycare center, disabled day care center, and Our Neighborhood Care Center, providing one-stop customized welfare services to local residents.
Inside the welfare center, the 2nd basement floor secures 43 parking spaces to create a pleasant parking environment, and the 1st basement floor is equipped with an auditorium, multipurpose gym, and book cafe to enhance user convenience.
The 1st floor houses ▲Mapo Welfare Foundation ▲Our Neighborhood Care Center ▲Children's Book Yard ▲Children's Playground; the 2nd floor includes ▲Yeomri Daycare Center ▲Yeomri Disabled Day Care Center ▲Fitness Room; the 3rd floor has ▲Dementia Relief Center; and the 4th floor contains ▲Yeomri Comprehensive Social Welfare Center ▲Senior Dining Hall ▲Cooking Class.
In particular, the hub-type care center that looks after children after school for working parents, the daycare center providing elderly care services, and the Dementia Relief Center offering dementia prevention education and early dementia screening services are expected to be of great help to nearby residents.
The opening ceremony will be held at 4 p.m. on the 9th in the Narae Hall on the 1st basement floor of the welfare center. In accordance with the government's 'COVID-19 phased daily recovery' implementation plan, only essential events such as a ribbon-cutting ceremony and facility tour will be conducted with fewer than 50 guests.
Yudonggyun, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, "The opening of the Yeomri Comprehensive Social Welfare Center has become an opportunity to improve the insufficient welfare infrastructure in the area," adding, "We will also strive to develop various welfare programs tailored to the needs of residents to eliminate welfare blind spots and enhance residents' welfare."
