Taekwang Industrial Headquarters. Taekwang Industrial Group will change its company name to TKG starting next year.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Kim Yong-woo] Taekwang Industrial Group is changing its name to TKG.
Taekwang Industrial Group unveiled its new name and company symbol CI on the 1st in celebration of its 50th anniversary. The changed name and CI will be officially used starting January next year.
Taekwang Industrial Group is based on Taekwang Industrial Co., Ltd., a global footwear manufacturing specialist, and has subsidiaries including Huchems, the No. 1 domestic nitric acid producer, Jeongsan International, a high-tech fiber material manufacturer, and Jeongsan Aekang, which produces construction piping.
Taekwang Industrial Group was founded in 1971 by the late Chairman Park Yeon-cha, who established a shoe parts factory and grew the company into a global footwear manufacturing specialist based on technological expertise.
In the 1990s, it was the first in the industry to expand into Southeast Asia, including Vietnam and Indonesia, and since the 2000s, it has expanded its business scope to precision chemicals, materials, power, and leisure, growing into a mid-sized group with annual sales of 3 trillion won.
Currently, the second chairman, Park Joo-hwan, is managing the company and preparing for a second leap forward.
Taekwang Industrial Group will use TKG as the base for its corporate name combined with the unique names of its affiliates.
The official changed name is ‘TKG Taekwang’. TKG is an abbreviation of Tae Kwang Global, and the new CI is inspired by ‘light’, symbolizing creativity and innovation, expressing ‘dynamic challenge’, ‘connection and value sharing’, and ‘sustainable vision’.
A TKG official said, “The change of the name and CI shows the will to grow beyond a successful 50-year history into a 100-year company and the goal to accelerate expansion as a global company,” adding, “We ask for much interest and support for TKG’s journey toward the future.”
