[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyunjung] Korea Racing Authority announced that it will resume customer admission at its nationwide business sites starting from the 5th.
This follows the government’s ‘gradual return to daily life’ plan announced on the 29th, and from November, horse racing customers will be allowed entry at racecourses and off-track betting sites nationwide, including those in the metropolitan area. The 21 off-track betting sites in the metropolitan area, including Seoul Race Park (Gwacheon), will open their doors for the first time in nearly a year since their last admission on November 22 of last year.
However, all racecourses and off-track betting sites nationwide will be designated as facilities requiring a quarantine pass, allowing entry only to those who have completed vaccination or have a negative PCR test result. In other words, to enter racecourses and off-track betting sites, customers must make seat reservations via mobile or online websites and complete pre-registration and verification of vaccination certificates or negative PCR test results before admission.
With the resumption of customer admission at racecourses and off-track betting sites nationwide, Korea Racing Authority will continue to implement existing quarantine guidelines such as 100% online reservation and designated seating system to ensure non-face-to-face and social distancing measures, temperature checks, mask-wearing, prohibition of eating and drinking inside the venue, and regular ventilation and disinfection. Additionally, to ensure more thorough quarantine management, a dedicated inspection team will be formed to frequently check and manage compliance with quarantine rules on-site.
Detailed information on the scale of business site admissions and reservation methods according to the gradual return to daily life plan can be found in the notices section on the Korea Racing Authority website.
Meanwhile, on the afternoon of the 29th, Korea Racing Authority held a meeting of metropolitan area branch managers at its Gwacheon headquarters, chaired by Oh Soonmin, Head of Business Planning Division, to inspect the quarantine status at each business site in preparation for customer admission. Given the long period without customer admission, the meeting included reports and inspections on the installation and operation status of quarantine equipment at each site, response plans for various customer admission scenarios, and personnel operation plans.
