First COVID-19 Case at G20 Summit... One Media Worker Quarantined

[Asia Economy Reporter Dongwoo Lee] On the first day of the G20 summit in Rome, Italy, on the 30th, a COVID-19 case was confirmed.


According to the US CNN network, the Lazio Regional Health Department in Italy announced that one media personnel tested positive for the COVID-19 virus and is currently in isolation.


This case was identified through testing conducted before entering the media center, in accordance with the G20 COVID-19 protocol.


The organizers are enforcing strict protocols to prevent COVID-19. Foreign journalists must present a negative result from a rapid antigen or molecular COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours before arriving in Italy to be allowed entry.


Local media reporters must also test negative every 48 hours to be able to cover the summit.


Inside the media center, where support for both domestic and foreign journalists is provided, masks must always be worn.


Meanwhile, the 16th G20 summit opened on the same day (local time) in Rome, Italy. The meeting, themed "People, Planet, Prosperity," will continue until the 31st.
