[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyemin] Following President Moon Jae-in, U.S. President Joe Biden met with Pope Francis on the 29th (local time).
According to foreign media, President Biden visited the Pope at the Vatican Apostolic Palace along with his wife, Jill Biden, on the same day.
President Biden arrived at the San Damaso Courtyard of the Apostolic Palace, greeted Vatican officials, and then proceeded to the Pope's office. He reportedly told a Vatican official, "I am glad to be back," according to the AP News Agency.
Issues such as climate change, poverty, and COVID-19 were expected to be discussed during the meeting with the Pope.
President Biden is known as a devout Catholic, always wearing a rosary and attending church mass weekly. It is reported that he has rarely missed mass even after entering the White House.
This was President Biden's fourth meeting with Pope Francis and his first since taking office in January.
