[Asia Economy Reporter Park Sun-mi] On the 28th, Korea Development Bank (KDB) announced that it selected the North Korean defector multicultural alternative school 'Uridul School' and North Korean defector multicultural students as the 45th beneficiaries of the KDB Warm Companion sponsorship program and delivered a sponsorship fund of 30 million KRW.


Most of the students who received the sponsorship fund had not received formal education during their defection process but passed the qualification exams for elementary, middle, and high school courses and are currently studying with the goal of entering university.


At the KDB Warm Companion sponsorship fund delivery ceremony held at Uridul School that day, Hwang Chan-ik, Head of Social Contribution at KDB, and Yoon Dong-ju, Principal of Uridul School, attended to encourage the students and support their dreams. The students expressed their gratitude, promising to devote themselves more to their studies and become talents needed by society.


KDB has selected beneficiaries with various backgrounds so far, and including this support, has delivered a total of 690 million KRW in warm sponsorship funds over 45 rounds.
