Ministry of Employment Holds Youth Employment Promotion Special Committee Meeting
"Listening to Job Seekers' Difficulties and Announcing Relief Measures"
[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Moon Chaeseok] The government will provide free non-face-to-face interview spaces for job seekers. Psychological counseling to soothe weary minds will also be offered.
On the 28th, the Ministry of Employment and Labor held the '2021 2nd Youth Employment Promotion Special Committee' at the Seoul Press Center and announced measures to alleviate difficulties faced by job seekers. These measures were created following Minister Ahn Kyung-duk's directive to devise solutions to ease the hardships of job seekers after hearing their concerns during youth meetings.
The main points include ▲support for adapting to changes in recruitment trends ▲expansion of quality employment consulting ▲provision of accurate employment-related information ▲and psychological support.
First, the Ministry plans to establish centers equipped with webcams, desktops, lighting equipment, and other necessary devices for video interviews next year, and make it easy to find youth and employment centers nationwide that offer video interviews online. This aims to resolve the concerns of job seekers who face unstable internet connections at home during non-face-to-face interviews or have to pay to rent separate spaces.
A free artificial intelligence (AI) interview experience service will also be prepared within this year. Additionally, support will be provided to allow access to high-quality public employment content covering the entire job application process, including self-introduction letters, written tests, and interviews. Free special lectures based on the National Competency Standards (NCS), necessary for public institution employment, will be expanded starting next year. From next month, key information will be available through the 'Youth Hiring Company Perception Survey,' which gathers responses from HR managers of major companies.
Furthermore, starting at the end of the year, psychological and employment counseling will be available through the 'Mind Relief Bus,' which visits every corner of the country with mental health experts and employment counselors.
Minister Ahn said, "The young job seekers I have met have been intensely contemplating how to find jobs in the new recruitment environment," adding, "We will continue to consider and actively promote employment support measures necessary for job seekers."
The Ministry of Employment and Labor will also continue to implement existing policies such as supporting the cultivation of core talents in new industries, expanding the issuance of the Tomorrow Learning Card, introducing and strengthening the National Employment Support System, supporting youth-tailored job creation, and providing additional support for the Tomorrow Filling Deduction.
