Expo to be held over 2 days and 1 night around October-November next year
[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters, Reporter Heo Seon-sik] Gwangyang City in Jeollanam-do announced on the 28th that it has been selected as the host city for the 3rd Jeollanam-do Lifelong Learning Expo in 2022.
The city submitted an application to host the Jeollanam-do Lifelong Learning Expo in 2022 to the Jeonnam Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute on the 24th of last month.
The Jeonnam Talent Lifelong Education Promotion Institute evaluated the cities that applied to host the Jeollanam-do Lifelong Learning Expo based on various programs, implementation system strategies, organization, and personnel, and confirmed Gwangyang City as the host for the 3rd event.
Additionally, the city was designated as a lifelong learning city in 2006 and has continuously worked for citizens' lifelong learning through adult literacy education, development of lifelong learning programs, support for excellent clubs, and lifelong learning festivals. As a result, it was re-designated as a lifelong learning city this year.
The city plans to secure the budget and complete preliminary procedures to ensure the smooth hosting of the Jeollanam-do Lifelong Learning Expo next year, and will widely promote it to lifelong education institutions and organizations in the region to encourage participation in excellent lifelong education programs.
Ryu Hyun-cheol, Director of the Education and Childcare Division, said, "We are pleased to be re-designated as a lifelong learning city this year and to host the Jeollanam-do Lifelong Learning Expo next year."
He added, "Hosting the provincial lifelong learning expo is an important opportunity to further develop lifelong education in Gwangyang City and is expected to contribute to increasing citizens' interest in lifelong education."
Meanwhile, the 3rd Jeollanam-do Lifelong Learning Expo in 2022 will be held over a one-night, two-day schedule around October to November next year.
