KB Kookmin Card Achieves 'A+' Governance Rating for 2 Consecutive Years... Industry First

[Asia Economy Reporter Ki Ha-young] KB Kookmin Card announced on the 28th that it received an 'A+' rating in the governance category for two consecutive years, the first and only card company to do so, in the 2021 ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) evaluation by the Korea Corporate Governance Service (KCSG).

Since the introduction of governance evaluations for financial companies in 2018, KB Kookmin Card has been recognized for its excellence in governance by receiving an A rating for two consecutive years. This year, following last year, it achieved an A+ rating, the first and only card company to do so, proving itself as an outstanding governance company both internally and externally.

This evaluation examined the sustainable management system and the potential for shareholder value impairment as presented by the financial company governance best practices in areas related to governance such as shareholder rights protection, board of directors, supervisory bodies, internal controls, and disclosures. KB Kookmin Card was evaluated as having a well-established sustainable management system and a significantly low risk of shareholder value impairment due to non-financial risks.

In particular, KB Kookmin Card has formed its board of directors with outside directors possessing expertise in various fields such as law, accounting, economics, and data to implement exemplary governance, and continuously strives for smooth communication among board members during major company decision-making.

A KB Kookmin Card official stated, "We will continue to strive to become a model company of transparent governance through smooth communication between board members and management."
