Gangdong-gu Revises Fixed-Term Worker Management Regulations to Create Better Working Environment

[Asia Economy Reporter Jongil Park] Gangdong-gu (Mayor Lee Jeong-hoon) fully revised and issued the Seoul Gangdong-gu Fixed-term Worker Management Regulations on the 20th.

This revision was prepared to reflect amendments to related laws such as the Labor Standards Act and recommendations from the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission, to enhance the efficiency of managing non-regular workers in the public sector, and to ensure fairness in the recruitment process.

The main revisions include ▲modification of the scope of application of the regulations ▲adjustment of provisions for shortening or omitting recruitment announcements ▲reflection of legal amendments excluding written notice for contract termination ▲establishment of provisions for official leave and sick leave ▲introduction of a clause prohibiting workplace harassment.

Through this revision, Gangdong-gu plans to improve the working conditions of fixed-term workers and create a better workplace for laborers through efficient and systematic service management.

Lee Jeong-hoon, Mayor of Gangdong-gu, stated, “This revision of the fixed-term worker management regulations aims to provide a better working environment for fixed-term workers working for Gangdong-gu, and the district is making multifaceted efforts to protect the labor rights and interests of fixed-term workers,” adding, “We will continue to gather diverse opinions from fixed-term workers and strive to prepare various support policies.”

The revised management regulations apply to approximately 690 fixed-term workers working in the public sector, including the Gangdong-gu main office, the district council, health centers, and community service centers.
