[Asia Economy Honam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Jun-kyung] The Goheung Office of Education Wee Center announced on the 27th that it conducted the '2021 Wee Center and Wee Class Professional Counselor Training and Council' for 17 professional counselors from Wee Centers and Wee Classes within Goheung.

This council was held to share the current work status of each school, discuss difficulties in counseling sites, and establish a close cooperation system between Wee Classes and Wee Centers in case of crisis students.

The training invited Noh Mi-sook, president of the Korea Picture Book Culture Association, to conduct a session on the theme of 'Counseling Therapy Using Picture Books.' It also provided methods to understand students' needs and emotions through picture books and help convert them into healthy needs and emotions.

In particular, by understanding the text and illustrations of picture books, practicing appropriate questioning techniques, tone expression according to situations, and emotional expression methods, the training was conducted so that these could be used in actual counseling scenes.

A professional counselor from Nokdong Elementary School said, "It was helpful to receive advice on the operation of Wee Class and school counseling cases, and I was able to apply it in actual counseling sites using picture books as a medium."

Education Director Kim Jeong-hee stated, "Strengthening the capabilities of professional counselors who directly face students with emotional difficulties is a very meaningful activity, and we will continue to provide in-depth training content for capacity building."
