KOSPI Starts Lower Despite Individual Net Buying... Trading at 3040 Level


[Asia Economy Reporter Minji Lee] Despite individual investors' net buying, the KOSPI is showing a downward trend.


As of 9:13 AM on the 27th, the KOSPI stood at 3,040.59, down 0.28% (8.49 points) from the previous trading day. The KOSPI opened the session at 3,045.83, down 0.11% (3.25 points) from the previous day. According to comprehensive investment trends, individuals alone purchased stocks worth 107.5 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions sold stocks worth 48.6 billion KRW and 60.4 billion KRW, respectively.


Looking at the top market capitalization stocks, Samsung Electronics traded down 0.42% at 70,800 KRW. SK Hynix (0.98%), NAVER (0.73%), Samsung Biologics (3.19%), Hyundai Motor (0.47%), and Kia (0.35%) continued their upward trend, whereas LG Chem (-0.48%) and Samsung SDI (-0.405%) declined.


At the same time, the KOSDAQ index stood at 1,010.80, down 0.09% (0.90 points). The KOSDAQ opened at 1,012.91, up 0.11% (1.15 points) from the previous day. Investment trends show that individuals alone bought stocks worth 81.8 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions net sold stocks worth 67.6 billion KRW and 12.2 billion KRW, respectively.


Among the top market capitalization stocks, EcoPro BM (1.16%), L&F (2.57%), Kakao Games (0.27%), and Wemade (0.50%) rose, while Celltrion Healthcare (-0.33%), Pearl Abyss (-0.72%), HLB (-0.44%), Celltrion Pharm (-1.12%), SK Materials (-0.35%), and CJ ENM (-1.95%) declined.


Seosangyoung, a researcher at Mirae Asset Securities, stated, “Attention should be paid to the U.S. stock market's significant volatility yesterday due to increased concentration on individual companies,” and predicted, “The domestic market will also experience a stock market environment with high volatility in individual stocks.”
