[Asia Economy Reporter Kim Seohyun] On Dokdo Day (October 25), YouTuber Jjuyang, who conducted a 'mukbang' on Ulleungdo and stated "Dokdo is Korean territory," is facing a flood of criticism from Japanese netizens.

On the 25th, Jjuyang uploaded a video titled "Mukbang with Kian84 eating 84 Dokdo shrimp, Dokdo is our land!! KRKRKR." 'KR' is interpreted as an abbreviation for KOREA.

Jjuyang, who has recently been posting a series of mukbang videos filmed on Ulleungdo, featured various types of Dokdo shrimp such as flower shrimp, chicken shrimp, and peach shrimp in this seventh Ulleungdo video, set against the backdrop of the Ulleungdo sea, together with Kian84.

Jjuyang used the song "Dokdo is Our Land" as background music at the beginning and end of the video. She also explained Dokdo as "a place you can only enter on days permitted by the sky and wind," along with its location.

Additionally, the phrase "Dokdo is Korean territory" was translated into English, Chinese, Japanese, and other languages and inserted at the beginning and end of the video. When landing on Dokdo, she wore a mask with the Taegeukgi pattern and was shown holding the Taegeukgi flag. The video recorded nearly 1.8 million views by the morning of the 27th.

After the broadcast, Japanese netizens canceled their subscriptions and continued to criticize Jjuyang. They responded with comments such as, "I disliked it because they said Takeshima is Korean land," "Was it really necessary to say Dokdo is Korean land?" "I didn’t watch it when I saw the word Dokdo at the start," "I stopped watching when I saw Dokdo written at the beginning," and "Thoughts are free, but since Japanese people also watch, deliberately mentioning it is uncomfortable."

On the other hand, Korean netizens have been sending messages of support, saying, "Thank you for the positive influence. Dokdo is Korean territory," "It’s not just a simple mukbang but always meaningful content," "Just uploading a video from Dokdo is a source of national pride," and "Don’t worry about what Japan says."
