On the 26th, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a spokesperson's statement saying, "We are closely monitoring the ongoing situation in Sudan with concern," and added, "We hope that all parties in Sudan will strive to achieve peace, prosperity, and democracy in Sudan through peaceful dialogue."
In Sudan, in the early hours of the 25th (local time), the military led by General Abdel Fattah Burhan staged a coup, arresting Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok and members of the transitional government, and declared a state of emergency. Following the coup, the internet was cut off and Khartoum airport was reportedly closed.
