Ministry of Gender Equality and Family-Korea Youth Policy Institute to Hold Forum on 27th
Three Sessions on Youth Protection, Activities, and Welfare Topics
[Asia Economy Reporter Han Jinju] The Ministry of Gender Equality and Family will hold a 'Youth Policy Relay Forum' to respond to youth crisis situations and seek protection support after COVID-19.
The Ministry and the Korea Youth Policy Institute will hold a youth relay forum on the 27th at 2 p.m. at the LW Convention Center in Jung-gu, Seoul, under the theme "Directions for Responding to and Supporting Youth Crisis Situations Due to Environmental Changes."
The forum will be held over three sessions every Wednesday, focusing on three topics: youth protection, activities, and welfare. The forum will be broadcast live on the Youth Policy Institute's YouTube channel, and anyone can participate.
Dr. Kim Ami from the Media Literacy Research Institute at Gyeongin National University of Education, who will present the main topic, will introduce various types of risks youth face online and suggest directions for youth policy.
In an environment where media use is becoming younger and non-face-to-face communication has become routine, she will provide a detailed introduction to harmful content, risky behaviors, and data collection-related risks that youth encounter online by type.
As measures to respond to youth crisis situations, discussions will include ▲ strengthening media literacy education support for youth, experts, and guardians ▲ establishing youth digital policies (governance).
In the subsequent roundtable discussion, experts including Oh Yeonju, Senior Researcher at the National Information Society Agency; Lee Seunghyun, Research Fellow at the Korea Institute of Criminology and Justice Policy; Lee Hyunsook, CEO of Taktin Tomorrow; Park Hyesook, Head of the Parent Information Monitoring Group; and youth field experts will share diverse opinions on protection support measures.
