Shinhan Financial Investment, which won the Asia Economy Grand Prize in the Human Resources and Personnel sector, is focusing on fostering female leaders and promoting female employment. This year, the company appointed its first female executive director, increasing the number of female executives at the head office to three. Last year, the employment rate of female personnel increased by 4% compared to the previous year, and the hiring rate of female new employees also rose to the mid-40% range.


Recognizing the importance of nurturing female managers, the group has established a management leader development system at the corporate level, and is working to increase the selection of female leaders and set female leader candidate pools to raise the proportion of female managers.


In addition, efforts are being made to alleviate gender-based job concentration by increasing the hiring rate of men in roles predominantly occupied by women. In job fields with a low female ratio, the proportion of women was increased by 2 percentage points compared to the previous year through new and experienced hires as well as internal personnel transfers. The company also continues to convert female contract workers in operational roles to regular employees. Furthermore, when hiring employees in roles with a high female ratio, female interviewers are assigned, and during interviewer training, efforts are made to establish a gender-equal hiring system by prohibiting discriminatory remarks.


The procedures for sexual harassment victim reporting and handling are specified in the personnel regulations, and at least one male and one female grievance counselor are appointed. The company applies a ‘zero tolerance policy’ toward workplace sexual harassment.
