[Asia Economy Reporter Lee Jung-yoon] It has been confirmed that toxic substances were detected in the blood of a suspect in an incident where two employees at a company in Seocho-gu, Seoul lost consciousness after drinking water from bottled water.
According to the police on the 26th, the Seocho Police Station in Seoul was notified by the National Forensic Service (NFS) that toxic substances were detected in the body of the suspect, Mr. Kang (35). However, it is understood that the detailed autopsy results have not yet been reported.
Mr. Kang purchased toxic substances through a research reagent specialty shopping mall site at the end of last month, registering his affiliated institution using the business registration certificate of another company that had a contract with his company, and then purchased the substances. The police are currently investigating the motive for the crime through digital forensics and questioning related parties.
The police changed Mr. Kang’s charge from aggravated injury to murder. Among the male and female employees who were victims, the male employee who was unconscious and hospitalized in the intensive care unit died on the 23rd, prompting the police to request an autopsy from the National Forensic Service. Toxic chemical substances were detected in the male employee’s blood, and the same substances were found in Mr. Kang’s blood and residence. However, it is known that no poison was detected in the female employee’s blood.
Mr. Kang went to work normally on the 18th, the day the incident occurred, but was absent without leave the next day and was later found dead at home.
