[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Byung-don] All three victims who died in the fire extinguisher agent leak accident at the new construction site of the knowledge industry center in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, were found to have died from suffocation.

On the 26th, the Geumcheon Police Station in Seoul announced that the preliminary autopsy results of the three deceased indicated that the cause of death appeared to be suffocation due to carbon dioxide poisoning.

The accident occurred on the morning of the 23rd at 8:52 AM in the basement of the new construction site of the Gasan Metro Knowledge Industry Center in Geumcheon-gu.

There were approximately 130 fire extinguishing devices weighing 58 kg and with a capacity of 87 liters, which emit carbon dioxide to prepare for fires, located in the basement of the construction site. Among them, chemicals leaked from 123 devices. It is known that inhaling this chemical in a confined space can paralyze the central nervous system.

The accident resulted in three deaths, one seriously injured person, and a total of 21 casualties including 17 minor injuries.

Meanwhile, starting from 2 PM on the same day, the police, together with the National Forensic Service (NFS), are conducting a joint detailed inspection to clarify circumstances such as the operation of the switch.
