Preemptive Measures for Stable Administration of the CSAT from November 11 to 18
Separate General and Special Exam Rooms for Self-Quarantined Test Takers Unlike Last Year
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Kim Yong-woo] The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education has decided to switch all high schools to remote classes from November 11 to November 18, one week before the 2022 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) day on November 18.
This measure was prepared to prevent infection among test-takers and to ensure stable administration of the CSAT, as was done last year.
On November 19, the day after the CSAT, schools may also switch to remote classes for quarantine and other reasons at their own discretion.
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education, with the cooperation of related departments, will operate an on-site management team from three weeks before the CSAT until the test day to support infectious disease situation management and the attendance of confirmed or quarantined test-takers.
Test sites will be divided and operated as general test sites for regular test-takers (62 schools, 1,198 rooms), separate test sites for self-quarantined individuals (2 schools, 16 rooms), and hospital test sites for confirmed cases. Hospital test sites will be established and operated if confirmed cases occur.
At general test sites, the number of test-takers per room will be maintained at 24 to secure safe distancing, as was done last year. Additionally, 2 to 3 separate rooms will be set up within the test sites for test-takers showing symptoms such as fever or cough on the CSAT day.
For this CSAT, to ensure the safety of self-quarantined individuals, temperature checks and symptom confirmations will be conducted on the test day, and they will take the test in separate general test rooms and separate rooms within the separate test sites.
Last year, self-quarantined individuals took the test at separate test sites without room separation.
Desk partitions installed last year during the test will not be used this year.
However, for lunch, test-takers should prepare their own packed meals and drinking water, and eat at their seats inside the test rooms with three-sided paper partitions installed. Group meals are prohibited.
Test-takers must wear masks at all times during the test. In general test rooms, regular masks (KF94, KF80, KF-AD, or surgical masks are recommended) must be worn, while in separate test rooms, masks of KF80 grade or higher (KF94 grade or higher recommended) are required.
Especially in separate test sites, masks of KF94 grade or higher must be worn. Valve-type masks and radiation masks are not allowed.
Superintendent Kim Seok-jun said, “We will do our best to prepare and operate test site disinfection so that test-takers can take the exam in a comfortable and safe environment,” and added, “We hope test-takers will refrain from going out as much as possible during the one-week remote class period and strictly follow daily quarantine guidelines.”
