Gyeongsangnam-do has launched the 'Gyeongnam Manufacturing Metaverse Promotion Council,' a collaboration between industry, academia, research, and government.
[Asia Economy Yeongnam Reporting Headquarters Reporter Lee Sang-hyun] On the 25th, Gyeongsangnam-do held a forum to commemorate the launch of the 'Gyeongnam Manufacturing Metaverse Promotion Council' and to establish strategies for fostering new manufacturing metaverse industries and application plans by industrial sectors.
The forum was attended by about 40 members and officials of the Gyeongnam Manufacturing Metaverse Promotion Council, including Park Jong-won, Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs of the province, and Noh Chung-sik, Director of Gyeongnam Technopark.
Recently, the province formed the 'Gyeongnam Manufacturing Metaverse Promotion Council,' consisting of about 30 experts from industry, academia, research, and government, including Gyeongnam Technopark, research institutes related to manufacturing innovation by key industrial sectors, universities, relevant associations, and companies.
The council aims to discover tasks related to fostering new manufacturing metaverse industries and application plans by key industrial sectors, and to strengthen cooperation for establishing and promoting business plans.
The forum proceeded with presentations on the theme 'Manufacturing Metaverse and the Future of Gyeongnam Manufacturing Industry,' followed by presentations on metaverse application plans for Gyeongnam's key industrial sectors (shipbuilding & marine, aviation, automobile).
During the designated discussion time, various opinions were exchanged under the theme 'Direction for Establishing Strategies to Foster Gyeongnam Manufacturing Metaverse.'
Deputy Governor Park said, "Through collaboration with council experts, I hope that a new blueprint for the future manufacturing industry through the manufacturing metaverse will be derived in Gyeongsangnam-do, which has the best domestic infrastructure such as smart green industrial complexes and 5G-based next-generation smart factories."
Meanwhile, the province chose the convergence of manufacturing and the metaverse as the first step to leap forward into future manufacturing in line with changes in the global supply chain and the accelerating trends of digital and eco-friendly transitions.
Currently, the metaverse, the most notable hyper-connected new industry field, will be applied to manufacturing to build an innovative model that overcomes temporal, spatial, and physical limitations.
