[Sejong=Asia Economy Reporter Kim Hyun-jung] The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced on the 25th that it will hold the International Fiscal Forum on the 29th together with the Korea Development Institute (KDI) and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) to discuss the role of fiscal policy in the COVID-19 era.
This forum will be held online with sessions presented from Seoul, Berlin, and Dublin, allowing any interested experts to participate. In Korea, the event will take place at the Four Seasons Hotel in Gwanghwamun, Seoul, in the afternoon.
Since 2009, the Ministry of Economy and Finance has held the International Fiscal Forum jointly with the OECD. This year, under the theme "The Role of Fiscal Policy for Overcoming and Leaping Forward from the COVID-19 Crisis," economic counselors and ministers from major countries' embassies in Korea will present cases from their countries, and experts will participate in discussions.
The first session, titled "Fiscal Policy Response to the COVID-19 Crisis," will present cases from Korea, the United States, and Ireland. The second session, titled "The Role of Fiscal Policy in the Post-COVID Era," will discuss cases from Korea, the EU, and Germany.
