Genesis G80 Electric Model Becomes VIP Vehicle for 'G20 Bali Summit'

Decision Made at Indonesia Electric Vehicle Roadmap Announcement Event

Genesis G80 Electric Model Becomes VIP Vehicle for 'G20 Bali Summit'

[Asia Economy Reporter Yoo Je-hoon] The Genesis brand's first electric full-size sedan, the G80 electrified model, has been selected as the official VIP vehicle for the upcoming Group of Twenty (G20) summit to be held in Bali, Indonesia next year.

On the 25th (local time), the Indonesian government announced at the 'The Future EV Ecosystem for Indonesia' event held at the Jakarta International Expo Convention Center that the Genesis G80 electrified model has been chosen as the official VIP vehicle for the G20 Bali summit. The event unveiled Indonesia's future electric vehicle roadmap and eco-friendly policies, with Indonesian President Joko Widodo also in attendance.

The G20 is an expanded forum from the Group of Seven (G7) summit, and since agreeing in 2009 to hold regular summits, it has established itself as the highest-level forum for discussing global economic issues. The 17th G20 Bali summit is scheduled to take place in the fourth quarter of next year in Bali, Indonesia, under the theme "Recover Together, Recover Stronger."

It is unusual for VIP vehicles at international events to be electric cars. During the summit, attending world leaders will use the G80 electrified model to carry out their schedules. The G80 electrified model is the country's first luxury electrified model, featuring numerous advanced convenience features and electric vehicle-specific new technologies.

Genesis expects that the selection of this electrified model as the VIP vehicle will not only solidify its position as a global luxury brand but also further strengthen Hyundai Motor Group's status as a leading electrification brand in the Indonesian market. Jang Jae-hoon, President of Genesis, stated, "It is an honor to showcase the G80 electrified model at such an important international event where world leaders gather," adding, "Genesis will also strive to ensure the smooth progress of the G20 Bali summit."

Hyundai Motor Group launched the Hyundai Ioniq Electric and Kona Electric in Indonesia last November, and among the 534 electric vehicles sold in Indonesia from January to September this year, these two models accounted for 473 units, solidifying their presence in the local market.

Meanwhile, at the event held on the same day, Hyundai Motor Group exhibited the G80 electrified model, the first dedicated electric vehicle Ioniq 5, the group's ultra-fast charging station E-Pit, and the electric vehicle-exclusive platform E-GMP.
